Coach Vargas Coach Talamantes Coach D.
About Your TeachersCoach De Avila, Coach Vargas, and Coach Talamantes are all proud native El Pasoans. Coach De Avila and Coach Vargas are both also Riverside High School and UTEP alumni. They played football for the Riverside Ranger teams of the late 1980's, and each of them has over 20 years of experience in teaching Physical Education. Coach Vargas currently coaches football at Morehead Middle School, and Coach De Avila coaches basketball at Hornedo Middle School.
Coach Talamantes is a proud mom of two daughters and one boy. Her favorite baseball team is the Texas Rangers and she loves to play volleyball. She enjoys all kinds of food and her favorite soft drink is Dr. Pepper. We are very proud to be part of a progressive EPISD physical education curriculum which sees physical activity as the cornerstone to not only combatting childhood obesity, but as a vital component to a child's intellectual development as well. All of our classes are structured the same way. We warm up together as a grade level doing a calisthenic routine set to music. Students then jog a lap or perform a short activity designed to elevate their heart rate and warm up their muscles. After that, we begin the activity for the period. |
